OAKS AND LUPINE COVERED MEADOW

This scene is on the Nacimiento-Ferguson Road between Pacific Coast Highway 1
and Hunter-Liggett Military Base.
GREEN PASTURE AMONG OAKS

This beautiful scene is along Highway 58 near Tehachapi Pass. I think it was
February, and the green of the grass was intense.
OAK SHAPE BURNED INTO GROUND

This incredible scene was on Cuesta Ridge soon after the 1994 Highway 41 Fire.
The white ash mark on the blackened ground looks exactly like the outline of an
oak's spreading branches.
POPPIES UNDER BURNT OAKS

The spring after the Highway 41 Fire on Cuesta Ridge. California Poppies and
bright green grass carpeted the ground under the blackened oaks. Many of the
oaks grew back as well, and six years later it was hard to tell there was a fire
in many places.
